There's a fine line between showing respect for the deceased and their family and friends, and wanting to blend in and not stand out. Here are a few Dos and Don'ts when it comes to funeral fashion: ### Do dress appropriately. This means no mini skirts, tank tops, or other revealing clothing. You want to look respectful and somber, not like you're going out for a night on the town. ### Do make sure your clothing is clean and pressed. You don't want to look like you just rolled out of bed, even if you did. ### Do wear colors other than black. While black is the traditional color to wear to a funeral, it's not required. If you're not comfortable in black, any other dark color will do. ### Do attend the visitation before the funeral, if possible. This will give you a chance to see the deceased and pay your respects before the service. ### Don't wear perfume or cologne. Many people are allergic to strong scents, and you don't want to be the person responsible for making them sick. ### Don't wear sunglasses inside. Not only is it impolite, but it also makes it difficult to see. ### Don't wear a hat. It's traditionally seen as disrespectful to wear a hat during a funeral service.
